The necessary qualifications, knowledge, abilities, and representative duties for the positions of fire chief and police chief are as set forth in the job descriptions for such positions. The selection process to fill vacancies in the position of fire chief or police chief shall be designed to determine the most qualified applicants on the basis of the qualifications, knowledge, abilities, and representative duties as set forth in the respective job descriptions for those positions.
